10 tips Dewinterizing your house for Spring and Summer

Dewinterizing your house for spring and summer involves a series of tasks that will help you prepare your home for warmer weather. Here are 10 ideas:

  1. Check the air conditioning system: Turn on the air conditioning and check that it's working properly. Change the air filters, clean the condenser coils, and remove any debris around the outdoor unit.

  2. Test the sprinkler system: Turn on the sprinkler system and check that all sprinkler heads are working correctly. Replace any broken heads or pipes.

  3. Check the roof and gutters: Inspect the roof for any damage, and clean the gutters of any debris that may have accumulated over the winter.

  4. Clean windows and screens: Remove and clean any window screens and wash windows inside and out to let more light in.

  5. Service the lawnmower: Sharpen the blades, change the oil, and replace the spark plug.

  6. Check for drafts: Check for any drafts around windows and doors, and seal them with weatherstripping or caulking.

  7. Open the pool: Remove the cover, clean and refill the pool, and add any necessary chemicals.

  8. Clean the grill: Clean the grill, check the propane or gas tank, and stock up on fuel.

  9. Inspect the deck: Check for any damage to the deck and repair or replace any loose or rotten boards.

  10. Check outdoor lighting: Replace any burnt-out bulbs and clean outdoor light fixtures to brighten up your yard at night.
